Dr. Uzoamaka Ukoha is a board-certified dermatologist renowned for her expertise in the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancer, as well as a comprehensive range of skin, hair, and nail disorders. Dr. Ukoha enjoys treating patients of all ages and her clinical interests include acne, hyperpigmentation, psoriasis, eczema as well as surgical and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Ukoha’s formal educational journey began at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where she received her Doctor of Medicine. Her postgraduate training includes an internship in Internal Medicine at Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas, followed by a Dermatology Residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During her residency, she had the honor of serving as Administrative Chief Resident in her final year.
Dr. Ukoha’s dedication to research and clinical trials has resulted in numerous publications in esteemed dermatology journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. She actively contributes to the field through her involvement in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Medical Association (AMA), the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the Skin of Color Society (SOCS), the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS), the American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS), the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), and the Texas Dermatological Society (TDS).
During her medical training, Dr. Ukoha was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, recognizing her academic excellence and compassionate care.
She cherishes the meaningful bonds she builds with her patients, finding profound joy and fulfillment in these relationships. For her, the trust and connection she shares with each patient are the heart of her practice, making every moment deeply rewarding.
Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Ukoha enjoys cycling on her Pelotonâ„¢ and is a big supporter of Duke Basketball, a loyalty stemming from her time at Duke University. She delights in the rhythms of Afrobeats, and when it comes to food, she can never resist the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine.
