Shalini Vemula, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist at Northstar Dermatology in North Richland Hills, Texas. She treats patients of all ages and specializes in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She values the connections that she develops with her patients and considers those relationships to be one of the most gratifying parts of her practice.

Dr. Vemula grew up in Colleyville, Texas, and graduated from Boston University with honors in medical sciences. She then attended Boston University School of Medicine where she was awarded the Peter E. Pochi, M.D. Award in Excellence in Dermatology. After completing an internal medicine internship at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center, she went to Boston University for her dermatology residency. During her residency, she volunteered at local skin cancer screenings and served as a resident liaison for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Afterward, Dr. Vemula served as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School for three years where she taught medical students, dermatology residents and dermatopathology fellows.

She has presented at national dermatology conferences, written book chapters, and published in multiple leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Dermatology.

She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology and Texas Medical Association. Outside of the office, Dr. Vemula enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, cooking, and traveling.
